dune (2021)
i don't have smart things to say about this movie, but also i don't really think anything smart needs to be said about this movie. i forced my friend to watch this and she was like "why was this 2 hours of WORLDBUILDING..." but also that's why i liked it <3 looking forward to more zendaya screen-time in 2023 but timmy is never going to grow on me.
the chronicles of narnia (2003)
friend forced me to watch this one with her and i almost fell asleep halfway through, so those are all of my thoughts about it.

who knew HOLYBANG would win TT-TT i didn't really like them at first, but i was super impressed by the way they approached the mega crew challenge, jessi's choreo challenge, and also THE FINALE! (i've been replaying their fancam on sketchbook way too much) not that i know anything about dancing but the way honey j plays with formation and rhythm is sooo good and detailed. i also think compared to some other crews (like ygx) they were pretty good at showcasing a distinct style while also bringing in stages that felt new. no comment on la chica bringing on jo kwon to dance to BORN THIS WAY but i seriously love their finale performance. WAACKING IS THAT SERIOUS! and i actually really liked prowdmon, esp. monika's decision for the "man of woman" challenge (literally the stupidest challenge ever for an all-women dance show) but i also get them being eliminated...wow ok this is getting way too long but did anyone else like the battles more than the performances 🥲

i started a tale for the time being by ruth ozeki and afterparties by anthony veasna so but couldn't finish either before the libby loan expired ;-; will just have to save these for winter break.
aside from manuscripts, most of my readings are class/research readings:
- from hisaye yamamoto's seventeen syllables: yoneko's earthquake, the legend of miss sasagawara, fire in fontana, the brown house, and death rides the rails
- nina revoyr's southland
- ocean vuong's on earth we're briefly gorgeous
- currently reading suki kim's the interpreter
also a bunch of random new yorker articles but let's not get into that.
oh wait, i also read BLUE PERIOD IN OCTOBER! was recommended by kaia and its seriously....so good...too relatable....
