ok i saw shakti and kaia watching this a while ago so i wanted to check it out and um. WHY WAS THIS LITERALLY SO INSANE? but also entertaining. i watched it with my friend + roommate who was like what the fuck is this....but also do you ever kiss your boyfriend at your cousin's wedding in front of your homophobic dad who is genetically engineering cauliflowers and then your uncle throws a jacket over you and your aunt in-law says you're just exchanging cardamom seeds. with YOUR MOUTHS?

this sure was a show i watched and finished. i think i enjoyed the first season far more and i find some of the relationship development between certain couples aggravating (ex. jungwon and gyeo-ul's dynamic completely changing from the prev season's antagonism to baby talk pda)...but also yay for ikjun and songhwa finally getting together <3

do i want to have critical thought about this....well anyways my favorite crew in terms of performances are def PROWDMON even though kayday and monica scare me but also LIPJ_MONICA_DYNAMIX? i think they consistently show very different stages but still retain their own unique style, i loved the way they've interpreted all the challenges so far <3 also i do like lee jung's style a lot but i don't why ygx keeps dominating the show (well i do know why) when all of their performances are just...kind of the same riff off each other. lachica aren't doing so hot rn but any one a SIMEEZ FAN?

READING
i read nothing this month aside from bad manuscripts that gave me a career crisis. actually i started bunny by mona awad but i only got 20% through before it was due at the library ;-; it was really good so far though, the premise is perfect to me (mean girls cult at an mfa program) i'll probably just pick it up again after this quarter ends. i'm so sad that i had to give up all my other holds (the memory police, the other black girl, wilder girls, the chosen and the beautiful) but i don't think i'm going to get much recreational reading done this quarter on top of my work + school readings
edit: oh wait no i realized i also read heartstopper by alice oseman. it was cute i guess?
also i set the bar on the ground for myself but i finished my 2021 goal of reading 21 books!

i'm surprised montero is my top album but honestly it's just a good pop album to loop while doing work and driving around running errands/driving around my normie friends. i also started listening to now, now per tori's recommendation a few months ago [re: stayaway obsession] and i think my fave tracks on saved are sgl, yours, and drive. i also liked holy water a lot at first but then it started to grate me on me idk TTATT

i wish there was also some way to track this like last.fm but i started listened to a lot of podcast recently! and by a lot + recently i meant when i was making the 4.5 hr drive back to school...

- invisibilia: friendly ghost story — recommended by my friend! i feel like with podcasts it's kind of like goes in one ear out the next and also some of the guests they feature in this are like. well you're just kind of an asshole....but per the title this made me ruminate a little on how fleeting relationships can actually be....and also the idea that relationships can fade out but also revive and that everything is just in a state of fluctuation ;=; i still have to listen to the other eps in this season
- radiolab — re: i am not an auditory learner but also RADIOLAB IS SO GOOOD? i'm constantly impressed by their sound design and how they make random science-y stories interesting. i was also recommended this by the same friend when we were working at a radio/podcast internship together before i realized i hate journalism and radio but ANYWAYS. highly recommend the gonads: dutee and the queen of dying episodes, they were so well-written. also this is from a while back but the BREATH episode is amazing...unparalleled.....listened to it in la rush hour traffic and almost cried
i guess i'm also trying to pick up listening to up first in the morning again so i can normie-fy myself...sorry for being like this.

i wrote nothing but also like, iykyk. i still haven't touched miniz_wip.docx since starting school but i am also tortured daily by the temptation of writing your run of the mill college romcom au for SUNTAK.
THINKING
um. why is being back at school so harrowing. i think every day i oscillate between experiencing FOMO and wishing i had better social skills to realizing that i'm just a hag who is tired and scared of covid......something about the sunk cost fallacy of trying to be social and make friends even though it's all futile bc i'm not going to be on campus come january. also going to a "party school" in a college town is so. I CAN'T DRIVE ANYWHERE ON THE WEEKENDS WITHOUT THE FEAR I'M GOING TO RUN OVER A GROUP OF DRUNK FRESHMEN! also i literally live next to frat row. anyways i'm hanging in there

HOMCHA IS QUITE LITERALLY THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY WEEK NOW, though i too don't know what they're planning to do for the last few episodes TTATT like what is this angst plot.....and i support u so much on your chohwa thoughts even if the writers didn't deliver on all of the obvious, palpable potential....SPEAK YOUR TRUTH TO POWER !!
i don't think you're missing out on anything in terms of gp99....idk how much longer chen hsinwei is going to be there (i think it would be highly unlikely but hilarious if she made it to the final line up) but i'm so proud of her for making it this far <3 AND UM!! ok i just read the first volume of heartstopper on libby because i didn't know it was on webtoon but now i'm making my way through it on there slowly but surely..... side note it just clicked for me that alice oseman was the one who wrote radio silence and now i feel the need to reread radio silence with a different brain

Date: 2021-10-14 08:26 pm (UTC)ALSO HOMCHA T___T i caught up recently HSDLFH god i hate the yeongguk storyline sooo fucking much bot chohui makes me feel everything in the world ;; even tho her character isn't that hashed out she's one of my favs. also every time i randomly remember that baekseung is in this show i laugh so hard like why did they cut to the idols filming the variety show right after one of dusik's super intense angst scenes HSDFLKHFLDH i'm excited for the final arc though <3
ANYWAY <333 thank u for ur best wishes and i also came here to talk about PYM again HSDLFKHLH. i rly like miss machado's writing but i feel like i rarely agree with some of her takes... i personally appreciated this article after i watched the movie and it makes sense to me that they struggled massively with deciding on the ending for it tbh
